Who is Beach Haus Designs and what sets you apart from other jewelry businesses? Where are you located?
We create artful limited edition jewelry & accessories for the woman who likes to be unique in everything she does & wears. We are located in Frankenmuth , MI .
How did you come up with your business name?
Well, my last name is Beach so that part was easy. We live in a wonderful town that is known for its German heritage and is called Michigan’s Little Bavaria so I decided to honor that in using the German word for House so that is where Haus came from. Course Designs is what we do best so in the end we called the line Beach Haus Designs. We felt it was fitting plus allowed us enough room to grow & expand our lines for the future.

When and why did you decide to start your own business?
I started Beach Haus Designs about 6 years ago mostly as a hobby and a creative outlet for my energy.
How did you get started?
I had been designing for many years earlier in several media’s but realized that people kept asking about my jewelry and then started asking to buy them. So about 4 years ago, I started doing this seriously and it has just grown and keeps growing. I feel very, very blessed that people seem to respond to what I do but actually love to buy & wear the pieces

What motivates you to keep your business going?
I have so many ideas that I love to actually see realized in its jewelry form so that is very exciting. My customers, both retail & wholesale, motivate me to keep creating and coming up with new ideas and designs. I love seeing my business grow especially since it affords me some wonderful time with my daughter! She loves playing with the beads and jewelry and has unwittingly come up with some wonderful color combinations! I am motivated by the colors of the beach or just being near water as well as anytime that we get to travel. I get so inspired by traveling that I just sit in the studio for hours after a trip designing pieces that reflect where I have been! I am excited as I have some trips coming up so excited to see where that takes some of our upcoming designs.
Do you have a new product/design you are featuring on your website?
We are featuring our Breast Cancer Awareness pieces right now as we donated our profits from those pieces to Breast Cancer Research. It is very important to my family as we lost a very dear aunt recently to Breast Cancer. Also, we are adding new holiday cluster necklaces, bracelets & earrings to the site as they are selling very well for us offline.

How do you juggle family and work at home?
I think this is a constant battle to be honest. I am still learning how to juggle it all, LOL! I have a wonderful, very supportive husband that wants me to do what I love which is such a blessing. I have a beautiful 2 year old daughter that keeps me on my toes every minute of the day as well as we are expecting #2 on Valentine’s Day so I am sure that will be a new learning curve.
My studio is in my home so that makes it great for me to be able to work and have my daughter with me as well as being able to deal with the normal day to day issues of family life. There are days that I feel like I have gotten nothing accomplished in the house or the studio but then there are days that I get a great deal done and feel so good about the day.
What advice would you give to moms seeking to become a WAHM?
I think it is a LOT of work, however, if you have a supportive family and the means to do it, then by all means I believe that you should go for it. Life is too short not to do something that you LOVE to do everyday. I believe very strongly in business of bliss and feel that it can carry us through both our work & family lives if we let it.
