Who is Tickled Pink Designz and what sets you apart from other web designers?
At Tickled Pink Designz we provide website and graphic design services to work at home moms and other small businesses. We provide everything in one spot so you don’t have to go to 10 different designers with different styles to get a website, business card, logo etc.
Where are you located?
We are located in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
How did you come up with your business name?
It took me an extremely long time to find the right business name. I wanted our name to be fresh, happy and unique. When you are happy about something what expression would you use, Tickled Pink. That is the feeling I want our clients to have when walking away with their new website, logo or whatever they may come to us for.
When and why did you decide to start your own business?
I started my business in 2005. When I found out I was pregnant with my son I decided to do something else with my life. I wanted to be able to stay at home with him.
How did you get started?
I could not have started without joining the Mom Pack. I can definitely say that. They have been an awesome support team and this is where I received my first dozen clients. Of course, I didn’t charge much at the time but I gained knowledge and experience that is priceless. I still learn something new everyday.
What motivates you to keep your business going?
My clients, when they are happy and tell me what an awesome job I have done. That completely makes my day and everything worthwhile.
Do you have a particular service that's unique/best seller/that you are promoting on your site?
Funny you should ask, we actually just launched our shopping cart software called GiggleCart. GiggleCart is basically a software that is installed on your hosting server and will allow the user to easily add, remove or modify web pages, content and products all from an online administration panel. It uses a basic html website template with a couple of modifications to the html. We design custom templates as well. I have had clients call this software “stupid friendly”. We are really working on getting this software it’s own website with a forum, support desk and knowledgebase. I hope to launch the website within the next year. This has been extremely popular with our clients and hope to keep it going strong.
How do you juggle family and work at home?
It’s hard. I am sure any other work at home mom would say the same thing. I try my best not to do anything work related until at least 7:00 pm. This gives me all day to play with my son and give him his bath. From that point on daddy takes over and tucks him in at night. I work from about 7:00pm to 2 or 3 in the morning and wake up at 8:00 am. So ultimately I don’t get at much sleep as I would like but you have to do what works for you and your family, right?
What advice would you give to moms seeking to become a WAHM?
Find your passion and then do research. Sure we may like to make paper butterflies as a hobby but is there a market for it? Will it sell? Working from home is almost always harder than going to a 9-5 job because you are constantly trying to find new customers/clients or ways to improve your business. And on top of that, managing your family :)
