The Spot Stumbled Upon.....Mommy Mixer

As I was visiting one of my favorite blogs, Unusual Business Ideas that Work, I stumbled upon its post on Mommy Mixer: The Original Babysitter Network Event.

It was one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moment for me. Mommy Mixer is a networking event where college students and parents who need babysitters are brought together in an informal setting, so that parents can interview potential candidates to babysit their kids. It was the brainchild of a mom just like us who keenly recognized a need for such a network when her friends started asking her for help finding reliable babysitters.

How fabulous is that business idea? Just a few hours ago, I was helping a friend of a friend line up babysitting jobs. Let's face it - reliable babysitters are hard to find especially the ones you and your kids can click with.

I would love to give that mom an interview here just so I can learn more about how she got started in that business. It just goes to show that sometimes a business opportunity is just right there under our noses - you just have to be the first one to recognize it and run with it!
