Meet the Mom Behind SuperMomz!

Who is SuperMomz? Where are you located?
SuperMomz is an online store (based in Los Angeles ) featuring essential products and apparel for busy moms! Our product line ranges from maternity wear, nursing lingerie & pumping bra’s to all the necessary baby gear. We feature many of the new, hot products along with many old favorites. Being SuperMomz ourselves (all of our team are moms), we know that it’s hard work being a new mom. We understand the challenges that moms face every day and have selected functional products that no new or expectant mom should be without. We also offer a monthly email publication (Mommy Mail) where we feature news about new products, host great contests and tell moms where to find deals on the latest maternity/nursing wear and gear.


How did you come up with your business name?
I wanted to find a name that really defined how I felt and what I wanted to achieve. I believe that all moms are SuperMomz so it seemed like the perfect choice!

When and why did you decide to start your own business?
When I returned to work after the birth of my second child, I was frustrated with the daily challenges that being a working mom of two presented. I was determined to find ways to make my day easier. As I began to find unique products to help achieve this goal, I realized that other moms could also benefit from these great inventions! Many of the products I discovered were only available in specialty baby boutiques and I’d spent much time and effort hunting them down. We all know that time is a precious commodity for new moms - so I decided to create a convenient online shopping experience where all the essentials could be found along with all the new products not carried in the baby mega stores.


How did you get started?
My very first product was the Easy Expression Hands Free Pumping Bustier. I had purchased one at a local breastfeeding store and could not believe how it changed my pumping experience. I contacted the manufacturer the next day to place my first wholesale order.


What motivates you to keep your business going?
My two children keep me motivated on a daily basis. I am reminded just how lucky I am each time I see the joy in their faces when they see me at their school parties and field trips.

Knowing that I’m helping other moms is a huge motivator! I remember struggling to get the children ready each morning and still arrive at the office on time without cereal on my suit! Anything I can do to help other moms make their day easier makes me feel like all the hard work is worthwhile!

Do you have a particular product that you are promoting on your site?
Glamourmom Nursing Bra Tanks and Bra Tops ship free in March. We have a huge selection in stock and carry all sizes and colors.


How do you juggle family and work at home?
I work while the children are at school and after they go to bed. Most nights I’m sitting at the computer until well past midnight! I try to keep the afternoons free so the children know that they are my priority. I have an amazing assistant (Mary) who keeps me sane by taking care of the book keeping! I’m not sure how I’d manage without her.


What advice would you give to moms seeking to become a WAHM?
Make sure you understand that it’s very hard to get any work done while you’re taking care of the children. You’ll need to try to make the best use of your time while the children are napping or at school. It’s all too easy to sneak a load of laundry in here and there but it’s better to establish dedicated working hours so that you’re able to relax and be available when your children need you. I think it’s also important to know when you can no longer do it all yourself and bring on others to assist you.
