Meet the Mom Behind bnurtured!

Who is bnurtured and what sets you apart from other bath and body product companies? Where are you located?
bnurtured is a bath & body company that speacializes in body butters. We utilize the finest natural ingredients and make all products by hand. There is a lot of care and attention put into each batch of our home made whipped body butters, and your body will thank us. We manufacture naturally sourced products that are gentle on the skin and earth. Our butters are as natural as you can get(with the exception of some of the most sensational fragrances we use). Our products are packaged by hand using eco-friendly and sustainable materials. We use recyclable packaging(all of our containers and paper used to package are 100% recyclable). We also maintain an eco-conscious office environment-printing on 100% recycled paper, recycling office materials and packaging.

We are committed to being a socially responsible organization by using Fair Trade ingredients. Our natural and organic Shea butter is purchased from a Fair Trade organization in Africa that empowers women by employing and paying them fair wages. We do not believe in testing our products on animals. All of our products are tested on lucky humans. bnurtured is located in Baltimore, Maryland.

How did you come up with your business name?
The question I asked myself is "How would someone feel after using the products?". Possibilities were; happy, joyful, blissful, etc... I finally decided upon "nurtured". I want my products to nourish the mind, body & soul.

When and why did you decide to start your own business?
bnurtured was started in 2005, and I started the business because I am a true entrepreneur. I have owned other businesses in the past and I have always desired to be my own boss.

How did you get started?
I actually started with a business partner making hair care products. That business relationship did not last and prior to the business dissolving, we had began making bath and body products. We went our seperate ways and my partner kept the hair care company and I continued on with the bath and body products.

What motivates you to keep your business going?
There is nothing like being your own boss. I pray day and night that I will never have to work for anyone again. What motivates me is the thought of working for someone else.

Do you have a particular product that's a best seller on your site?
My best selling product are my body butters. Containing our signature blend of fig, guava, and apple extracts our butters are designed to impart deep moisture and conditioning for your skin.

How do you advertise your business?
I do direct mailing, belong to alot of networking groups, utilize MySpace, distribute Press Releases, and participate in vending events.

How do you juggle family and work at home?
I work normal business hours, just like I would if I were working for someone else. I stop working at a particular time and then concentrate on my family.

What advice would you give to moms seeking to become a WAHM?
Do your research on whatever business you are contemplating going into. Research in my opionion is the #1 thing you need to do before going into business for yourself.
