Who is Twin Pregnancy and Beyond? Where are you located?
Twin Pregnancy And Beyond is a fun, interactive, informational online resource for parents and families who have or are expecting twins. We cover just about everything from pregnancy and birth to parenting twins and everything in-between. Including how to prepare, gear guides, personal stories, breastfeeding tips, visitor polls and some really great photos.

How did you come up with your business name?
Well, honestly, "twin pregnancy" was always the search term I used when I was pregnant with my own twins and trying to find information on the web. But, when I decided to build my own site, I didn't want the information to be just about pregnancy…Hence, the choice of Twin Pregnancy And Beyond. I felt like it left the door wide open for what could be added to the site.


When and why did you decide to start your own business?
I always wanted to start my own home based business, just lacked a great idea. So, in late 2006 following the birth of my twins, my inspiration came. After doing a bit of research, I decided to open a web based boutique specializing in clothing and gifts for twins and their families. Subsequent to it’s success in 2007, and a need to feed my own intrigue with twins, Twin Pregnancy And Beyond was born and has been growing ever since.

How did you get started?
I basically took everything I learned from my own experience with twins along with what I could gather from all around the web, in books, and from other parents and started to create an outline of what the site would finally develop into. I found a wonderful hosting platform, investigated keywords, got opinions and feedback from family and friends, and even learned a bunch of HTML and CSS code. It was lots of reading, even more typing, and still it's a work in progress.
What motivates you to keep your business going?
Truly, it's the wonderful response I get back from the parents and families. I always wanted Twin Pregnancy And Beyond to offer the best, most comprehensive "twin-specific" information and resources on the web. So, when I hear how much it has helped others going through twin pregnancy or raising twins, that's about all the motivation I need!


Anything on your site that you are promoting?
Yes! We are going to start offering some really fun and exciting twin related contests. Such as, a twin photo contest, twin story contest, and a twin birth video contest. All for a chance to win cash and prizes.


How do you advertise your site? Which methods proved successful/effective?
I do a lot of quality link exchanges, banner ads, directory submissions, and a free newsletter. I believe it’s the cultivation of all of these methods together that proves to be the most potent.

How do you juggle family and work at home?
I definitely juggle, to say the least! Having a daughter in preschool, two year old twin boys and another baby on the way doesn't leave me much down time these days. I find the need to choose my battles daily. If I can't get to the laundry because I have too many errands to run, then so-be-it. Not sweating the small stuff helps, as well as a really supportive husband.
What advice would you give to moms seeking to become a WAHM?
Whatever type of business you settle on, it should be one that you enjoy and are passionate about. Not only will it come through to your customers, it may even make you want to decalre, "I love my job!".
